WooCommerce Ultimate Gift Card - Arbitrary File Upload (CVE-2024-8425)

CVE-2024-8425 is a critical vulnerability in the WooCommerce Ultimate Gift Card plugin for WordPress that allows unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files due to insufficient file type validation. Exploiting this flaw could enable remote code execution on the affected server, potentially leading to full site compromise and further malicious activity.

Attackers exploit the WooCommerce Ultimate Gift Card plugin by sending POST requests to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php with the action=mwb_wgm_preview_mail parameter, uploading arbitrary files that are then accessible under /wp-content/uploads/mwb_browse/.
