A privilege escalation vulnerability in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS software allows a PAN-OS administrator with access to the management web interface to perform actions on the firewall with root privileges. Cloud NGFW and Prisma Access are not impacted by this vulnerability.

CVE-2024-9474 is a vulnerability in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS software that may enable privilege escalation, allowing authenticated administrators to perform actions with root privileges through the management web interface.

While still present in the wild, exploitation levels have dropped noticeably week-over-week. Observed exploitation attempts are associated with requests targeting URLs matching /php/utils/createremoteappwebsession.php/ followed by a .js.map file.
